Ion (Jack) Llewellyn Idriess 1889-1979

Dedicated to the Life and Works of

Of horses and streets. Named after Jack? Who knows?

There have been two racehorses named "Idriess".

The first was a chestnut stallion born in 1949 by Genetout (FR) from Sunny Princess (AUS).

The second "Idriess" is owned by the Bowness Stud (NSW). She is a very attractive black mare but she was never tried as a racehorse. Idriess was born on 16 October 2006 - bred by the Ramsey Pastoral Co Pty Ltd (NSW). Her father was Anabaa (USA) and her mother was Card Queen (AUS). Both her mother and her sister (Karuta Queen) were superior stakes winning racehorses. After being sold to Ascot Heath Pty Ltd in 2009 for $4000 then to Lucky Owners Pty Ltd in 2011 for $20 000, in 2011 Idriess was bought for breeding purposes by Bowness Stud for $25 000.

And some totally unrelated, useless information. There are eight streets named "Idriess" in four States and the ACT. None in Western Australia, Tasmania or the Northern Territory.
